  1. I think you will notice a fairly big difference with the new shocks Gerry, more than you might think. One thing though, make sure you take her for a full geometery set up afterwards as the alignment will be all over the place. Another thing to note, tell whoever is fitting them to do them up only loosely while car is on ramp. Only tighten/torque them fully once car is back on the ground as they need the weight of the car on them first. Otherwise the bushes will already be under strain which buggers up the ride. I'm taking Mindy in soon to have this done. Rear calipers are a pain! You've done the best thing replacing them, no more hassles (well not fir a long time at least!). Finding a mechanic you can trust nowadays is like finding gold! I'm still looking for one to look after my cars (for servicing and big jobs i cant do)!

    Tow bar on mb3

Thats funny you should remind me today! I was down clearing out down the side of shed today mate as we have a new one coming! Saw what i thought was the tow bar, but unfortunately all thats there are two metal brackets from it, the rest is gone. Also noticed my VTiS rear lip for the Aerodeck is gone! Gutted! Not sure if someone has taken it as i deffo did not sell that. The sideskirts were still there though so very strange. Towbar is deffo gone though, sorry bud.
  3. Great to see your dedication ton this Aerodeck continues mate. Nice job on the projectors, they look sweet! Regarding the brakes, I had Black Diamond brake discs and pads on my 1.4 MA8 Civic and hated them! The pads used to suffer from brake fade regulary, and the discs warped very easily. This put me off the Black Diamond products, although that was a very long time ago so not sure if they have improved now? I haven't heard of Mikoda, but if they produce stuff for Brembo then I would think they must be a great product. I would look for reviews on them on the internet then male your choice based on that. Keep up the god work and lets ssee some more pics of your Aerodeck
  4. If I remember correctly Jamie, Honda did not fit the rear ARB to Aerodecks for some reason. Any that you do see have been retro fitted.
  5. Liking the calipers mate, looks same colour as DD's
  6. Going to be even more of a stunner than she already is mate. Love seeing our civics being pampered and cared for like this.
  7. Mega job! That should see her last for years mate! I really need to do this with both DD and Mindy. Love seeing this underneath a car, shows its been protected and cared for.
  8. Great progress mate! The leather makes such a difference. Makes it feel a lot newer and more upmarket doesnt it. Looks sweet in there now along with that steering wheel. I just did the front discs and pads on the mx5, got the rears sitting waiting. Always feels good to get new brakes on them bud! Keep up the good work!
  9. Sounds strange. One way to test would be to get another map sensor just to see if code still comes up. Rich from Dynodaze (used to be a moderator on here and now co owns Dynodaze) built a B20 Turbo, might be an idea to give him a shout as he knows all about turboing the B series and also mapping. His user name on here is civicturbo79 although might be quicker messaging him through dynodaze facebook (tell him Dave from civic5 sent you )
  10. Looking good mate, nice bit of work converting the headlights to projectors. Looks like it came from the factory. Be interesting to see what the light output is like compared to originals when fitted to the car. Looking forward to seeing this!
  11. See, do thats the best kind of motoring, no repairs just enjoying modding and making the car unique!
  12. Tidy mb3 mate! Liking it a lot and deffo a bargain at that price. The vtec-e is a cracking wee engine! Coming along nicely!
  13. Yeah, knowing how the white metal likes to corrode you will most likely need to buy MB6 ones as the very newest MA style ones were made in 1996. As long as you get those surrounds though as they are the main bit. Yup, decent OEM fogs are rare to find now. I've got a spare set in the box for DD, although her front fogs weren't fitted to her when she was new. Dawn bought them brand new from Honda when we bought DD (first mod she did!) and got Honda to fit them so they are still like new. Glad Ive got the spare set though! Also got two spare centre consoles (was going to do a custom double din install but changed my mind) and got spare side trims from the boot of the deck as they are hard to get now. If you are planning on keeping your Civics a long time, start stock piling spares now guys while they are still cheap (and available)
  14. Took me 3 years to find a set, and that was about 18 years ago! They were even rare back then mate, so will be a task finding a set now. I think you can make MB6 ones fit, but it's the surround that you also need too. Well worth it if you do get a set though, but remember to put some kind of protective film on them to stop them getting broken.
  15. Massive improvement mate, she looks so much nicer on those SR wheels.
  16. Lol oh yes, my biggest flaw is my heart spends money my head knows doesnt exist! Id deffo replace that rear caliper as it will only get worse then end up being a pain yo get off. Exchange recon calipers are reasonably priced mate and again, its one of those parts that does make a difference. And hey, it doesnt matter if shes a 1.4 base model or an all bells an whistles VTiS, if shes a good car and you love her shes worth spending the money on. The amount that was spent on Ruby and DD is money we always knew we wouldnt get back, but it didnt matter. Still doesnt! Lol shes done you well so far Gerry so she deserves a treat!
  17. Youll notice a big difference replacing the shocks/springs Gerry. I did with the mx5, totally different car to drive after new ones fitted, and they were just oem spec.
  18. They did Simon, well chuffed. Not perfect, but then theyll be getting redone in leather anyways so least they're ready to go to the trimmers. Deffo look nicer than the previous ones!
  19. Been working away in the garage again! We had bought really rough tombstone seats a while back. They were filthy, had rips in the vinyl and looked awful, but we were going to get them retrimmed so didn't matter. Problem is, the seat bases need swapped over as the UK spec mx5 has the seat belts bolted to the seat base (so to9mbstone seats have nowhere for the seat belt to bolt on to). We decided to strip the seats down and also take the covers off to see if they would maybe clean up a bit in the washing machine. If we could get the bases swapped over, we could use the seats until we were ready for them going to the trimmers to be covered in leather. So, started removing seats.. Then stripped the covers off the seats. Hats off to Gayle, who removed all the little metal clips holding covers on (bloody hundreds of the pesky buggers!) while I held the seat firm/held cover out of the way. Cover off The seat base covers were horrible, all stained (including oil stains) and smelt of cat pee! They has been stored in a barn so anyones guess what the actual smell was! Back rest hanging up in conservatory to dry after a long time in the washing machine!! Came out really nice! Now the refitting of the covers could begin. Rather than use the clips (which were mostly corroded and busted anyways) we chose to use cable ties. Cable ties all put in place first before offering up cover. And then fitting the cover. Horrible job, and fingers are still sore! Before fitting the tombstone base cusion to the uk spec metal seat base, I rust treated them then primered followed by spraying them in satin black. Know you won't see this once fitted, but I like wee details like this done properly. Seat finally built. Note the split that I also repaired by using vinyl repair section cut from the old seats. Fitted to car........splits now repaired on both seats. This spending money has to stop! Another box arrived addressed to Mindy.......what has the wee minx been buying now?? Something very nice, that's what!! I've always loved the Nardi wooden steering wheels, but being 360mm they were too big if you were tall like me. Problem being that in order to drive the mx5, my left leg had to be at a very uncomfortable angle to work the clutch, as it couldn't fit under the steering wheel. So the wheel I bought is only 330mm. Took me ages to hunt down a wheel that has the same styling as the Nardi (spokes etc all look similar) but smaller. This one came all the way from Germany and wasn't cheap! Still, love the way it looks. Also got a Nardi horn push badge coming which will finish it off nicely. Had her out for a wee test drive, and felt weird at first with the wheel being smaller (and wood) but also because my leg wasnt trapped against the wheel anymore. There is another mod to remove a wee spacer from the column to gain another wee bit room so will be doing that too. New seats feel so much better! More supportive due to the side bolsters, but seem to have more padding too. Plus as Gayle pointed out, no more cold draft on your neck due to the space between the old seat and the headrest! Next job will be to get new speakers for the seats as the originals have disintegrated, then get it all wired up. Well happy, and again, find it theraputic to be working on Mindy again, albeit at a much slower pace. Oh, old seats and bases etc, which will be on their way to the tip tomorrow! Manky!
  20. Thats excellent news mate! One reliable little Honda that!
  21. Exactly as Jake says mate. Aftermarket/pattern panels such as wings/fenders always require some amount of fettling to get a perfect fit. Easy enough to do though.
  22. Ferodo are ok for road use, have used them in the past. EBC greenstuff are also decent, although I found the do produce a lot of brake dust. You can mix pads/discs fine mate, wont cause any issues. Rear brakes dont do that much braking to be honest, so you could get away with replacing them with blueprint or oem discs and Ferodo pads. Entirely up to you bud. Price wise, again i found EBC to be a decent balance of price/, performance.
