  1. Sooooo, went out with Mindy today as had a wee meet arranged with one of the members from mx5oc.co.uk (Robin). He had just got his Eunos back on the road after a lot of time, work and money spent bringing it back from the risk of being scrapped to an absolute stunner! Met over in South Queensferry, Down by the Forth Rail Bridge. It was too busy there for a wee photoshoot, so we headed over to the marina. Had a passenger ride in Robins mx5 and that thing can shift! It's a 1.8 auto, but being the Eunos import the box has sports mode and it really makes a difference! The whole car has had a body rebuild and also all the chassis/suspension replaced with brand new (inc wishbones etc) so feels really nice (and looks really nice underneath too!). We had a coffee and a good long chat in between the photos, so really nice day. Weather was really overcast (hence some of the photos being slightly dark) but no rain. By the time I got home, the bloody sun had come out! Typical!. Anyways, Mindy enjoyed the run and meeting up with her playmate (she's already met Robins wifes MK2.5 MX5 Sport) and we had some American tourist lady come over to us to talk about the mx5's! So all good! Here's some of the photos. Hope you likey!
  2. Spotted a clean civic mb in pirates black. Different alloys and was a Y reg so one of the last ones. Had a bit of fun with it on the Gladsmuir to Haddington road (I was in my MX5). Anyone from here?
  3. Spotted in Aldi car park. Red aerodeck, lowered, white alloys, exhaust, looked really sweet. Reg was NLP. Deffo sure this was a civic5 car before, looks really familiar.
  4. Awesome news mate! Hope you said hi to Rich and the guys at Dynodaze for us. Shes looking amazing, must be great to be able to drive her again.
  5. Perfect bud, i'll send you a pm with my number as think its changed since last time i saw you.
  6. Welcome to the club. To be honest you are probably better sourcing one second hand as i believe Honda may charge a fortune for one. Try giving our trader Naz (10000RPM) a message as he may be able to help you out. Naz has decent prices and always helpful. @10000rpm
  7. Were away on hols in June but thinking maybe July or August? Man I'm in Dalkeith every day, work there! Was brought up there too! Need to hook up soon so I can see your MB6 in the metal mate!
  8. Awesome update mate!! A lot of time and grief youve had to endure but the end result is worth it. Have you moved down south? I though you'd moved to near Edinburgh? Talks are in place of a special civic5 meet so hoping you can bring her along! Not seen you (or the car) for ages!
  9. Give Naz a pm mate, hes bound to have a set somewhere. @10000rpm
  10. Thats the spirit! Now she's welded mate she'll be good as new. No shame to her needing that to be honest given our Civic M's are all old girls now. Always good to get the mot out of the way for another year! She'll look sweet with the VTiS skirts on. Is the squeal maybe just the fan belt needing tightened/adjusted?
  11. That shine is unbelievable mate!!! Looks like glass! Shes looking top dollar indeed!
  12. Deffo no an old codger driving it now mate! Lol yeah, would love to have a meet this year, not sure if we're gonna have the funds to get DD on the road though, need to wait and see. Im skint at the moment! Would be great to see everyone again. Just checked your number on my phone. Its ending "077". Lol no wonder you didnt get the text Mine still the same, ends 701. You want to text me your number Ali and I'll change it in my phone.
  13. It was a youngish dude driving it mate, maybe in his mid to late 20's? No older than 30 i thought. Ill need to check that number! Have you changed number recently? Lol, yeah have to love their 28 speed gearboxes in F n F!
  14. Thanks Ali. Yeah, a wee bit kore power would be nice i guess for any straight roads, although tbh we always go and find the wee back roads when we go anywhere in Mindy. Tis a mega blast if giving her beans on the twisty roads though! What i would really like is the six speed box from the mk2.5, the gearing on the motorway means quite high revs at 70-80. I texted you the other day Ali, spotted your old Accord in Musselburgh. Still looks sweet as hell!
  15. It's quite theraputic to be honest although your fingers might be a bit sore when you've finished.
  16. Thought you would notice a difference mate! Nice to see the MB getting some treats! Red and black is always a winner, and funny how even a new set of mats can make a car feel so much nicer. I bought one of those kits you used to be able to buy to retrim your steering wheel in leather for my old MA8 Civic. Spent hours doing the stitching, think i did them in blue to match her paint. Long tedious job but well worth it. Wheel felt nice being leather and also chunckier/thicker.
  17. See! Now I am envious!! Parts look amazing mate. Really want to do this with the aerodeck and the mx5! Looking sweet bud!
  18. Been a while since I updated this. Now almost recovered from the heart attack I can confirm that the actual attack was the easy bit! How it affects you/what you can do and how long it takes to get back to normal is the hardest and most frustrating part. But hey ho, I'm nearly there and hoping to start back to work next week. Have also been restricted to what I can do on the cars since it happened but finally getting back to almost normal on that front too. Just takes me a bit longer than it used to! So, not a lot been happening in Carly's world apart from her daily duties. Has been driving great, no probs. Today, had her in for the dreaded MOT..............................which she passed again with flying colours. Not even a single advisory. MOT guy also commented that she was really really clean, perfect wee car. Really pleased! Had thought about maybe trading her in as I've had her over 3 years now (I think) but as she's had such a clean bill of health we'll be keeping wee Carly!
  19. That boot looks like it's never been used! Clean as! Glad you got the rear seats fitted properly, know they can be a pain! She's looking lovely and deffo agree that just subtle mods are the way to go with these now as they are getting rare (well, the decent ones in good nick are like yours). I'm still thinking about putting DD back on her standard suspension, oh, and even found her original 14" alloys when moving the shed! Not that they'll be going back on, but good to have them for when she does hit proper modern classic status. Originality is where the money is.
  20. That sounds like a decent price mate! Apparently its the suspension being tightened fully while car is in the air that causes the shuddering over bumps etc. Hadnt heard of this before I had Mindy, but can see how it would affect the car.
  21. I think you will notice a fairly big difference with the new shocks Gerry, more than you might think. One thing though, make sure you take her for a full geometery set up afterwards as the alignment will be all over the place. Another thing to note, tell whoever is fitting them to do them up only loosely while car is on ramp. Only tighten/torque them fully once car is back on the ground as they need the weight of the car on them first. Otherwise the bushes will already be under strain which buggers up the ride. I'm taking Mindy in soon to have this done. Rear calipers are a pain! You've done the best thing replacing them, no more hassles (well not fir a long time at least!). Finding a mechanic you can trust nowadays is like finding gold! I'm still looking for one to look after my cars (for servicing and big jobs i cant do)!
