  1. Great to see her up and running again mate! Suits the new wheels nicely
  2. Can't beat a good garage mate! I'd be lost without mine now. Said to Gayle, when we retire abroad (probably Spain) won't be looking at any house unless there's a double garage. She found a beauty the other night, 3 bed bungalow (new build) and the entire basement was a garage! Room for 3 cars easily and still space to work and have benches etc. Cheap as chips too £100.000! If we could have afforded to just now, we'd have been off! House was amazing. And the garage floor was all fancy polished (looked like a marble type material). Truly was amazing!
  3. Would be a nice mod if a kit exists mate. Bound to be something on eBay, or maybe a Google search? If you (or anyone else!) finds a kit let us know. A mod id be interested in for sure!
  4. Haha, long time no see Dougie! Glad to see you've still got the mb6, Jersey has it been over 3 years since you were down here? Looking forward to seeing the updates mate!
  5. If I remember rightly they prise off from the outside with the trim tool (hopefully someone will be along to clarify this!). The clips are pretty fragile though so do remove carefully.
  6. For info on model codes (mb6, mc2, mc1 etc) and loads of useful info check in here mate.

  8. Wow! Bad that the previous owner let the oil go so low, but these engines are pretty bullet proof so depending on mileage, a rebuild might not be needed. Although saying that, nothing like a freshly rebuilt engine for piece of mind.
  9. Welcome John, really sweet looking VTi you've got. Quite rare in white as well, has she been resprayed as the inner wings look like pirates black? The model you've got is an MB6 (1.8 VTi 5door hatch), the MC2 is the 1.8 VTi Aerodeck (civic estate). Nice list of mods , what's the plans for this one? Engine bay looks mega clean! And that air intake blended into front bumper looks ace!
  10. looking soooo clean mate! Have to say I love the alloys, look so right on it. The bump strips on the bumper are part of it, bumper and strips all moulded from one piece of plastic. You can mask up the bumper for painting the strips though, or you could wrap them in carbon effect vinyl or something similar. The strips on the doors can all be removed. The fogs/drls look sweet!
  11. What ones you going for mate? Always love new rims!

Not the best effort! Image is too low resolution mate, needs a higher res one. Also a bit harder to do as the rims are polished, so colour change not working like I want it too lol

Lol never knew mb wheels fitted the beemer! Is that the same green as you mb6 wheels then? I'll have a bash tonight if I get 5 mins mate
  14. Hi mate. The B18 responds well to turbo-ing. Power doesn't come cheap though, so I would deffo stay away from eBay specials as the parts used are lower quality. The key is like the old saying.......buy cheap, buy twice! If looking for reliable power, I would advise upgrading the engine (especially if high miles) and also the clutch as the extra power will destroy an old/ standard clutch. There have been a few turbo mb6 builds in the club so have a look through to see what others have done as this will give you the best indicator of what works. Don't forget to upgrade the brakes too! Last thing you want is a fast car that you can't stop! Looking forward to seeing where you go with this one, as everyone loves a turbo conversation here!
  15. Yes do this man!!!l would be great to see you and the beemer on there mate! Tell john to get his bum in gear and get joined up with Ruby!

Can the earth wire not just be run down to a convenient earth point nearby mate? Don't think the earth has to be on the wheel itself?
  19. lol it's not that I'm posh......more like a reference to me being like Arthur Daley in my younger years! Always wheeling and dealing! lol
  20. photo of the new Cigar lighter fitted (not very exciting I know but will make such a difference!) Also wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the exterior door handle. The drivers side one sits kinda funny, sticking out at the end nearest the front of the car instead of sitting flush. See photos below. And a quick photo of the wheels, now fitted with the new centre cap badges in red to match the bodywork. Planning a custom dash centre console where the radio (possibly getting a retro DAB one) sits flush with the dash. All radios stick out from dash due to the design of the centre console tombstone so looking to mod that!
  21. In the interest of health and safety the smoking smiley has left the building. Think you'll find him in the wee smoke shelter just outside of the forum! Lol!
  22. Another job ticked off the list! Been in garage tonight fixing something that has bugged me since getting the car.........cigar/12v socket didn't work. Thought it might be the fuse, but power getting to the socket so decided it must be gubbed. Removed it (what a fight that was, did not want to come out!) and had a look. Was slightly corroded inside, but read on main club forum that it could also be the built in fuse on the socket itself that had gone. So, seeing as I had a brand new one that I'd bought for a project I was going to do on the MINI, I replaced it with that. All back together, tested and now working fine! Means we can now charge stuff when out in the car. Happy chappy. Took a photo but haven't uploaded it yet (but we all know what a cigar lighter looks like eh!) Centre caps for wheels (the three remaining ones) now all had their coats of lacquer. Also tyre dressed the tyres and they don't look too bad now, cleaned up pretty well. Again, took a pic but it's still on my phone!
