From what I can remember you should be able to prise it out with a plastic panel removal tool mate. I've got a spare lighter socket and surround in the garage, I'll try and have a look at it and see how it fits and let you know. Will probs be the weekend before I get a chance to get out there though.

The rover 400 etc are the same ones mate, so fit is exactly the same. My Hekos did the very same as yours, and those awful metal clips they come with don't do anything other than make the fitment worse! They also bugger up your rubbers too. Climair are such a solid fit you could probs get away with not actually using the double sided tape, but that makes the fitment perfect. Just the cost that's a downer!

Sad times indeed mate Hope you can figure out a way to keep going with the civic, she's been one of Civic5's regulars for a long time

Think that would look pretty cool mate. Liking that yellow light paint, how many coats did you need to put on? Looks a lot better than the yellow film I had on Ruby at one point, which just went all crusty.

Wow! Mega low miles, 1 owner and fsh, you're onto a winner with that one mate. Looks really clean too. My first 5 door civic was 1.4 auto too, was a cracking little civic that. Was actually quite nippy too, and the most reliable car I've ever had. Owned it for around 6 years and was faultless. Looking forward to seeing you progress with this one.

Climair are the best in my opinion mate. I've had both those and the team Hekkos and the quality and fit of the climairs are so much better. The Hekkos pop up on eBay often, the climairs tend to be mostly had from the climair website. If you want the rears too, type in Rover 400 if the civic ones aren't there.

Once the nut has been undone and the C clip removed, you should be able to wiggle it loose then pull down to remove it. If there's a lot of corrosion/crud around it this will probably be whats holding it. I take it it's the bracket that's attached to the car, where the metal brake line joins the rubber flexi hose?

Does sound strange that it is constantly going low on the dipstick. Check the sump as these do tend to become corroded now due to the age of our civics. Look for signs of oil on the driveway or where you park. If no signs, then the oil has to be going somewhere. The B series engines do use oil sometimes, but the D series are generally fine although the mileage the engine has done is obviously a factor. If high mileage, then it could be burning oil due to wear. Does the oil light come on when you turn the ignition on, then go off as normal? Just checking the oil light is working. The amount of oil it is going through is a worry though.

Nice work on those calipers and how's the extra 5 bhp feeling? Lol
-
Try euro car parts or Lings Honda, they should have them. If they don't, it may have to come from a Honda dealership.

Looks sweet mate!

Lmao mad!

Lol was talking to Phil on the phone the other day, wasn't the cops who hit him mate. I'd still be suing the ass off the driver who did collide with him though. Sheer stupidity overtaking like that.

I stopped using photobucket years ago, I just upload my photos to Civic5 then if posting them on any other sites (that unlike here, don't allow uploads, only links) I just copy the image link from here to the site I'm posting on. Least that way the images will always be available (unless the day comes when we decide to close Civic5) Used to like PB, but when that CEO decided to make us pay (and held a gun to our heads by killing all the photo links we already shared) that was it for me. Too many adverts on PB too now, just slows the whole site down.

Considering she's not been polished, she looks nice and shiney mate. Really clean deck this and love the PB popping in the sun!

I love getting boxes of bits!

Jesus! was it the cops who hit you? I've heard of close calls mate, but an inch is deffo the closest! Deffo an angel watching over you bud! How you feeling now after it, still sore? Any other pains or aches developed? Must have been a hell of a fright when it happened.
-
Bloody hell mate! Glad you're ok as that could have been so much worse. Unbelievable you walked away from that, looks severe to say the least. As for the Muppet that caused it, what the hell was he thinking? Solid white lines are there for a reason! And on the brow of a hill, where he can't see what's coming! Should be done for dangerous driving at the very least. Sad to see the CRV like that mate, know from when you came up here with it it was a mint one. As said, it did well to protect you, and you're right, being in the civic would have had a worse outcome. It's lucky (if ant crash can be called lucky) that he didn't hit you head on going by the damage he's caused there, as it doesn't bear thinking about what the outcome of that would have been. Get yourself checked out fully mate, and any injuries sue the ass off him. Idiots like that need removed from the road permanently. Out of interest, what car was he driving? Hope you find a new car soon.

Oh, and she's booked in this Saturday to go up on the ramp! Wee country garage (one man operation, and he's been a mechanic/engineer for over 40 yrs) along the road from me is going to get her up in the air so we can give her a good going over underneath. Known the guy (Brian) for years, and he's an old school mechanic. He did say on first galnce she looks really tidy, so hoping that will be the case after we check her out. Really wanting to find whats needing changed asap suspension wise, as she does have a knock on the o/s front over bumps, and although fitting the mini wheels has got rid of most of the vibration she had, there's still some there. She's also quite "crashy" over bumps etc, so want her sorted out asap so she's not only nicer to drive, but also safe! New springs/shocks are deffo on the cards anyway, but want to check out all the bushes/wishbones and subframes to make sure they're not falling to bits! After this has been done, will be booking her into RJM Performance in Glenrothyes to get the water pump, timing belt etc done. Then a wee service, and reckon she'll be bob on! That's when all the good stuff can start, like wheels, detailing etc! It also rained while I was out in her today, and can report the new hood is doing it's job perfectly. No wind noise (well, there's always wind noise on mx5's but nothing like she had before!) and no leaks at all!
-
@dmrichards Thanks mate! Yeah, always wanted one, just something about them. You should check out that one local to you mate, as the mk1's (and mk2's for that matter) are deffo increasing in price. With the mk1's there's only one way the price is going to go now, so if it's a good one, see if you can get it! So, update time! Gayle and me have been busy! Started with removing the old (and totally gubbed) hood and prepping the car ready to fit the brand new hood. After some time, the old hood was off! Generally pretty dirty in there after carpet and hood removed. Next we inspected the drain pots (the containers where the rainwater from the drain channel collects before going out down the drain tubes. Drivers side, really grubby, lots of crap and stuff built up there. Passenger side not quite as bad, but still dirty We cleaned out both sides, then the actual drain tubes themselves. Gayle found the perfect tool for cleaning out the drain channel around the bottom of the hood.....and old make up brush and the vaccum cleaner! Pose with the tool dear! That's it, perfect! lol The tubes were surprisingly clean and clear! Hardly anything at all in them, and both appear to be perfectly clear. Next we cleaned the whole rear area. Could have left as is seeing as it can't be seen once carpet goes in, but I'm OCD about these things! Plus the black metal can be seen once hood is in place but isn't easily cleaned then so though do it now before fitting and it'll make the whole finished job look so much nicer. Yes, I cleaned and polished it! lol We then stopped for a tea brake and to get ready for fitting the hood and putting the car back together again. And then, all fitted, the finished result... Pics of Gayle and me, suitably proud of our handy work. Can't believe the difference this has made to the look and feel of the car. Really smartened her up, and no more drafts/gaffer tape/leaks. Took her for a spin afterwards as a wee reward, and to see what she was like with her 4 Mini alloys. Drove nice, and felt quite cosy inside now with the new hood. Still got some vibration through suspension, but nowehre near as bad now so that's a result. Will be getting her up on a 4 post ramp soon so I can check out the bushes/drop links/shocks/springs and anything else under there and replace whatever's needed. Hope you like!
