Ah, so maybe uncompressing the springs (not sure of the term) would soften the ride and allow the shocks to be set stiffer? So would avoid the front end diving, but keep the ride comfy? Don't think there's anywhere around here that would have a clue on setting the suspension up mate so may need to look further afield.

Haha, same as my Dad. It was because of him I got so into cars, used to love watching him fix them when I was a kid. He did everything, mechanics, welding (he was a professional welder to trade for the NCB!) bodywork etc. Used to repair other peoples cars too. Hence why I've loved cars all my life. Bet your dad is loving "playing" with the BMW! And I thought it was you I saw drifting it round that roundabout the other day.....lmao Get what you say about the coilovers mate, I'm just kinda stuck with what to do. They are up as high as they can go,just can't seem to get the balance I want. Like I say, all we do is cruise in DD now, so handling isn't really a priority. Just want her to be as comfy over the bumps as she can be and no more scraping. Gonna see a guy I know who has a wee garage with a 4 post ramp so I can get her up and have a good look underneath. Hoping to get the underneath all re-undersealed to keep her good. Would adjusting the springs maybe help, as they are just set as they came from MeisterR?

Oh, and got a massive result with the insurance renewal! Aviva quoted me £382 (one off payment or £420 paying it monthly) which I thought was stupidly high. Searched online and got it with 1st direct for only £279 (and that's paying monthly!) plus comes with courtesy car, breakdown cover legal cover. None of which came with Aviva. Well happy with that!

Well, not much to report on Carly as she's been doing the daily duties no problem. Got the rear brakes fixed, then last month the exhaust started blowing. Had thought about a stainless one a few months back but don't have the funds just now which was a bummer. Took her to my local garage who fitted a whole new system from the cat back. They advised me the one they took off seemed to be slightly different, rear box was a smaller bore than should be. This new one sounds totally different! There's now a kinda deep tone to the exhaust note now once warmed up. And she seems a bit quicker so possibly the old system was restricting her a bit. So although an expense I could have really done without, it's made a nice difference to her. And then I found out I'd been driving around for ten days with no mot! Was only when the road tax reminder came through I noticed it had no mot stated on it! So put her in, and was doing the usual worrying as I hadn't had time to check her over so thought shed fail for sure. Got the call from garage, all perfect, not even an advisory! All is good in Carly's world. Also finally got my phone hooked up through the stereo. Bought a phone holder kit that is specific to my phone and also the MINI so it all fits in rock solid. Was going to do a custom secondary head unit install into the wee "secret" compartment in the dash, and control it from an app on my phone, but seeing as I can now play my phone through the original stereo I probably won't have to bother. Which is a bugger cos I've gone and already bought all the custom wiring looms etc! Still enjoy driving her every day, and have had some fun with other more powerful cars on the really twisty roads around her and loved how she out corners them!

All been quiet in DD's world, so other than an occasional outing on the odd weekend nothing much been happening. We did have her out more recently as the mini was out of MOT (had been driving around for 10 days oblivious it had ran out, only the road tax reminder showed it had no mot!) so carly was quickly put off the road. Gayle kindly lent me her focus as she didnt think she needed her car for a few days.....................only to call me at work saying " daaaaaave....can I use DD?" lol Think she planned it! So Gayle used DD, which gave her a wee run. That weekend we took her on a nice long run down my favourite road, the coast road from Port Seton down to North Berwick. We stopped off in North Berwick for dinner, then headed across country along some really narrow country lanes and towards the borders, before turning off and heading back towards Gifford, Pencaitland then home. So nice long run and has got her mileage since MOT on the later side of 700 miles. Drove superb (apart from the offending sticking front caliper) but has now got me fired up for what I'm going to do with her. Decided the front calipers will both be replaced as I've found that once they start binding, you're constantly stripping them down to fix them again. So that's number one job. The other is that I'm seriously considering puting her back on her standard suspension. Although I love the look of her lowered, I'm finding that on a few roads we have been on the front has bottomed out due to speed/the road undulating. The stiffness I have the suspension set at just now is really stiff compared to standard, so don't really want to go any stiffer. She never gets driven hard anyways, so thinking probably best with the standard suspension back on? If I do go down this route, I'm going to refurb her standard suspension so it all looks as new. What do you guys think? So there may be a set of low miles MeisterR's coming up for sale soon!

Yeah, there have been a few D to B series swaps here (think Chandler's deck was the latest) so easy enough to do but as krzys says you will need all the B series components. Very easy if you can pick up a complete vti ek4 or for a b18, mb6/aerodeck vti MC for spares, unless you already have the engine?

Try it on say a 8 or 9mm drill bit (although use a smaller drill to do pilot holes first) as I think the nuts themselves were 10mm. I don't remember mine having locating pins although they may have been cut off before I bought it. For the wiring, if you look at the top right side (i think) of the tailgate near the hinge you'll see where the wiring comes out and goes into the main bodyshell of the car. I removed the rubber casing the wires are in and pulled the wires out slightly so I could get at them. This is also where I put that metal ariel thing in and fed it down towards the spoiler. If I remember rightly, it went down the left side of the tailgate as the wiring from the spoiler is on the left side? Nowhere to plug them in so you'll need to splice them into the wiring I was on about earlier, solder them and heatshrink on them to make safe. Sounds difficult but it's just fiddly mate.

Fitting these is dead easy mate! For the 5 door hatchbacks (not aerodecks unfortunately) Honda has marked exactly where to drill the holes on the tailgate. If you take off the trim cover on the inside of the tailgate, you'll see the "dimples" where the holes for the spoiler should go. On my MA8, took us I think 30 mins tops to fit the spoiler. That was taking things slow as hadn't fitted one before, and also making up new rubber gaskets for the spoiler to sit on. We also put some black silicon sealer around the bolt holes before final fitting just to properly seal it. The hardest part from what I can remember was routing the brake light cable, we used the metal "whip" from an old cb ariel, taped the wires to it and fed it through the tailgate. We bit fiddly but all in a really easy to fit spoiler mate. Just noticed you said you need the bolts too? The bolts (studs) should be already fitted to the spoiler. If it's the nuts that are missing, i think they were 10mm.

They can deffo be fitted as a few members have them on their civics. Not sure how it goes on as haven't fitted one myself mate.

Strange one mate, although we do have a server issue at the moment which I'm working on so could be that that's affecting it. The server issue affects both sites though as they are both on the same server so bear with me and I'll see if I can get this sorted out bud.

Know the feeling mate, got hit with a £300 leccy bill No idea why it was so high as we pay monthly so gues their meter readings were all wrong. Now the tax reminder is in for Carly, and her service light has just come on! And I'm bloody skint! Just need to wait till the pennies are available mate then teat her to a wee bit pampering

Thats major progress mate. Used to love prepping cars for paint, but think im maybe too old for that now. Mind you, seeing this makes me want to just do the front end respray on DD myself. Nice work so far mate
