  1. Weird Honda didn't seal that bit as it's where most of the crap/spray from the wheels lands! Loving your fabrication skills mate, looks so much better with that pitted area cut out and replaced with fresh steel. one less area to worry about now! Deffo inspired me to learn welding, might look at getting a course in the new year. Is it a mig welder you've got and are you using gas or gasless? Got so many ideas/jobs (not just for the cars, some stuff for the garden and garage too!) where being able to weld would be amazing.
  2. Thats really quick progres your making mate. Nice to see the end sill plate/aarch panels are available. Think i'd be bricking it to cut out the rusty metal but best thing to do, will leave you with a totally rut free shell. Your grandparents would be well proud of the work your doing to save their car. Hats off to you mate, deffo following this build!
  3. Lol 😂 you'll be fine mate, they're really strong. Ours have been on for the past 15 years or so and are still like new.

    My new german

Superb job on the wrap, that colour looks amazing. Did you wrap this one yourself too? Looks like a top job mate, thinking seriously about wrapping our mini now!
  5. Super rare item mate, nice find! I've had them on DD for a long time now, think it was one of the first oem accessories we bought for her. Look smart and protect the lights.
  6. can't mind if there's a clip on the rear hub for the abs sensor maybe? or is that one of the clips the rear bumper screws into on the corner of the wheel arch?? that might be it!
  7. Is that part plastic? Can't for the life of me remember seeing it on DD. Only thing I can think of is if you look between the rear crossmember and the back of the fuel tank, you'll see the wiring harness for the ABS. Pretty sure the pass side has a clip similar to that to hold it up?
  8. Still looks not too bad mate, although can see the water marks on the plastic sill covers again. I'm going to fit her VTiS ones so won't have that problem much longer lol.
  9. No mate, I had the VTiS Speedline Chronos. The ITR DC2 wheels are I direct fit I think from memory.
  10. deffo, although these last few days of brilliant sunshine means because it has a metal roof, its like an oven! keeps DD nice and dried out though!
  11. Not seen that one, is that up under the dash near the steering column? Sure I read that ours are either OBD1 or OBD2A?? deffo can't take the scanners they use nowadays.
  12. Lovely looking car, mate, sitting well on those rims too. The undersealing looks to be a good job though, I'd be inclined to leave it as is until it shows signs of needing redone.
  13. The HT leads are easy to break, especially if they're only. Which one was it (number 1 cylinder, number 2 etc)? Is there any clicking sound when you try to turn it over?
  14. 2nd thumbs up for Powerflow. Got one custom built for our deck, still on it 12 years later and never had a single issue with it. Bit pricier than some, but can't fault the quality. We wanted it built to almost OEM spec, so the car is really quiet during normal driving (wouldn't even know it wasnt standard exhaust) but has a nice tone to it if you give her beans. Will eventually get a Powerflow built for my Mini too, cant beat them imo.
  15. Lol, garage is needing a few repairs to the base unfortunately. The company that laid the raised concrete base for it made a bit of an arse of it. The rear of the garage is raised up about 3 feet due to the slope of the garden, unfortunately they only built a timber surround for the base (should have been brick) so the wood has moved out at the rear allowing the hardcore underneath the concrete to move slightly. Now has a crack in the floor right up the middle from front to rear, and a smaller crack to both rear corners. 😒Guy that owns the company is a dick, not interested in putting it right so having to either get another company in or do it myself. It's on the list! Is set up nice in there though, did all the electrics and lighting myself so super bright led lights etc and nice bench to work at.
  16. Yeah, was stressing thinking she was getting bad rust wise at the rear. Can sleep at night now knowing she's solid lol. Once I get new tyres on the cades alloys they'll be going back on. Can't believe she's been sitting in the garage for a year now since her last mot ran out! Luckily wee Poppy Cooper has been handling the daily duties well!
  17. Decided to start getting to work on DD! After being underneath her trying to suss out the ABS fault, I noticed she had a fair bit of surface rust at the rear. Before we moved down here, I'd done rust treatment then fresh underseal from the front of the car up to where it stops at the rear arches, but never got round to doing from there to the back. Front still looks in decent shape, as do the floor pans etc. So decided I needed to get to work on getting this done. Have started on the drivers side wheel arch/inner arch and suspension. Got it all buffed down with the grinder/wire brush wheel and it was nowhere near as bad as i thought. Metal beneath the surface rust was still nice and shiney. So rust treatment to the arches/inner arch and the suspension, followed up with a good coat of red oxide paint. Then on with a fresh coat of underseal. Did the suspension arms etc in satin black paint. Looking pretty decent for an old girl! This shows what's still to be done and compares to the drivers side that I've almost finished. The drivers side looked as bad as this when I started Another small detail that's been bugging me since she's been on her winter-standard alloys was I'd lost the original small chrome wheel nuts. Had been using the extended ones that the Cades alloys need, but these stuck out too far and were rusty as hell. So, ordered up some nice new OEM ones for her. A little detail but one that I think makes a big difference. And just a couple of her how she sits just now Have also refitted the OEM sunroof wind deflector as the water leak she has when it rains isn't coming from the sunroof. narrowed it down to around the top of the windscreen where it's getting the top drivers side corner of the roof lining wet. Another job o the list! Tking the rear calipers off too to give them a good clean (have also rust treated them) before giving them a nice coat of silver VHT paint. Going to take of the O/S Brake disc while I'm t it to get better access to clen the abs ring as it's difficult to do just through the small gap where the abs sensor sits. Hoping that solves the ABs issue but we'll wait and see! Still happy that even though she's now 24 years old, she's still never had or needs any welding. really good nick!
  18. Welcome to the club mate, long time no see lol. Decl looks pretty mint behind the sill covers, cracking base to start with.
  19. The saga continues! Hooked the battery up, started her, lights back on again! Thinking maybe the abs ring needs a clean?
  20. Gayle suggested hanging cd's on the hedge next to car.......etc voila, wee birds doesn't go hear the car now. They still poop on them when flying tho! Lol
