Just been back out to check it again. Initially when I started her, light on. After a few starts, light off. When I got the light back on, tried to pull the codes again. Light just stays on, doesn't flash the codes Disconnected the bridging wire, started her 6 or 7 times, all goes off as it should. Gonna leave her a few hours then start her again, see if it goes off or stays on. Thinking you might be right, unit itself might be fooked, although when the lights off abs works like it should.

The saga continues!😬 So, went out to the garage and connected the battery back up to move DD over a bit. ABS light back on! WTF!!!! Did the reset with the ignition again, light off and working as normal. Seems to be that after so many key turns, the light is back on again. When it does come on, switch it off, start it again and it goes off either straight away or after a 2nd turn of key as normal and stays off. Then stays off for quite a few starts then back on again.Totally wrecking my brain trying to suss it. Thought maybe ignition switch to blame but doubt it? No rhyme or reason for it. Anyone got any ideas or had this before?

Good news! Went out to have a look at the wiring connector on the ABS unit. Thought I'd have a butchers through the good ole Haynes Book of bollocks to see if there's an easy way to get it disconnected. Discovered they don't have any info on it as they suggest it's not a DIY serviceable part, but then saw the section on ABS codes. Pretty much the same as we have in our guides, although there is a note for 97 onwards and Aerodecks.........The ABS computer may still hold old codes after the fault has been repaired! I always thought we just needed to pull the ECU fuse for a short time to clear any codes but apparently not! Manual advises to clear all codes, turn the ignition on/off (don't start car) 20 times or more. So thought well, anything's worth a bash! connected her battery up, did the above 20 times........abs light off! Didn't get too excited s it's gone off before for a few mins, so started the engine a few times and it went off every time. Decided to take her for a test drive up the back road, drove a good 6 miles and light stayed off. Pulled over to turn back and turned the engine off to see if it was a fluke, Started her and abs light straight off! Tested the brakes on way back and ABS kicking in like it should. So, ABS fault finally fixed, just got the inner rear arch on pass side to buff down/treat and underseal and she's ready for the MOT. Dave is a happy bunny!

Glad you got the ignition problem solved, think there will be more of our civics experiencing this due the age of them now. Liking the mods, those Mugen pedals look sweet!

Never seen one fitted before but anything's possible. Have seen them retro fitted to aerodecks.

Those headlights look amazing! Nicest conversion I've seen done to them. Headlight covers really do finish it of nicely, nice mix of retromod and OEM. Whole cars is looking superb mate, one of my fav members cars! Looks flawless.

Deffo an improvement that's for sure mate! Was meant to get fired into the MINI today but we were staying over in Glasgow yesterday/last night (and many drinks were consumed! 😊) so by the time we got home today couldn't be arsed! lol Getting poppy's rear bearing done tomorrow then will get DD back in and get that AB connector disconnected, checked and cleaned. Fingers crossed this time!

Have now finished apart from the pass side wheel arch. Got the abs sensor all fited back in and her back on the ground. Unfortunately, needing the garage to fix the MINI now! lol Rear wheel bearing is shot so now the mini is up on stands. On a positive note, when I moved DD into the car port, I had a brain fart moment! ABS light is still on, so deffo thinking wiring fault. Then I thought, hmm, who's to say the faults actually at the rear? So popped the bonnet, and gave the connector that goes into the abs unit a good poke about/wiggle. Started her up, ABS light went off! Started her another 2 times and same, light going off as it should. 3rd start up, stuck on again lol. least i think I'm in the right area now with the fault so once i get the mini done, I'll get her back in the garage to check out the big connector on the abs unit.

Today's update on the rust treatment. Got the whole rear into its first coat of underseal, boot floor and surrounding areas looking much tidier now Got it right up into the rear corners roo and in behind the rear bumper so she's well protected. Deffo going to give her another coat though, but my neck was sore from doing this yesterday so had to give it a miss today. Next, i'll get the lower suspension arms done in satin black then move onto the nearside Rear arch and suspension, got it all buffed dow, rust treated, undersealed and painted. Then just the ABS sensor to refit and troubleshoot and fit the VTiS side skirts. Should be ready for the mot after that.

Not sure on this one mate unfortunately. I think you would possibly need to swap the ecu to a Hondata or something similar although not sure on the ins and outs of doing this. Not heard of the "BEE R Revlimiter" before.

For sourcing a suspension set from a MGZS 180, best bet is Ebay. Pretty sure the MGZS was available in Portugal (know the standard Rover 400/45 was) so hopefully you can find a set nearby. If you do see some advertised in the uk, always worth seeing if the seller can post them to you (although be wary of scams etc). they do sometimes come up for sale in the forum too and on our FB group. You can also go for Koni shocks and springs, which are decent quality too. Or the coilover route, which is more expensive but gives you adjustabillity. Avoid some of the cheaper Ebay coilovers though as their quality/ride is sometimes questionable. Depending whether you have the 5 door hatch or the Aerodeck, MiesterR do a set specific for our Civic M's. I've had a set on my old MB6 VTi 5 door and they were decent on that, but had an identical set on my aerodeck and could never get it to sit right if carrying passengers. Was fine in the hatchback for some reason.

Give Rich Ellis at dynodaze a shout as he had the turbo'd B20. Knows his way around honda engines. Pretty sure the B20s are fine, know his used to easily rev its tits off with the turbo lol

@CF4Shaun Welcome to the club mate! That's a stunner of a VTiS deck, looks like you picked a good one. You'll find all the info you need in the forum, plus tons of ideas for mods or resto, whichever direction you're going with your Civic. Forums not as busy as it was in it's hay-day, but we still have members old and new popping in quite regular. Most of the focus on these Civics now seems to be leaning more on restoring them as they're into Modern Classic car territory now. Deffo a lot more money going into restoring them than we would have seen years ago. Whats the specs on your deck mods wise? Can see the Rota slips (not seen a set of those in a long time, one of my fav wheels!), suits them perfectly.

Soooo, after seeing @Roverjoe latest update on the work he's done to his Civic, got me motivated to get back under DD to press on with the rust treatment! Drivers side rear area now completed, it was onto the Spare wheel well. Saw a few scabs and was thinking the worst but after getting the grinder with flappy disc into it along with the wire wheel on my drill, was again pleased to find it ws only surface rust again. nice clean metal underneath! After grinding and wire wheel.... On with the rust inhibitor (I tidied up the lower control arms too and any other areas round about that had signs of rust).. Once everything had dried for a few days, gave the whole underside of the boot floor a good coat of red oxide paint, just to act as another layer of protection before the fresh underseal goes on. This is the rust treatment stuff I'm using. Next I'll get the undersealing done then move onto the pass side rear arch and get that all done. Thinking it's better doing in completed stages instead of leaving the metal bare. Deffo looking a lot better so far!Still got the pesky ABS issue to sort out too, but that's future Dave's problem!
