Thats a totally amazing bit of work mate, loving that! Will be following this one!
-
Damn! Where the hell do we get the shims then? I was sure the oem pads from Honda came with them?
-
Nice wee haul of parts mate! I'm wanting to get DD's lca bushes done so might buy some replacement arms and refurb them and fit new bushes to them.
-
TBF the Standard Honda pads are decent mate. Thats good to know we can still get bthem from Honda as I need to order up some new retainers for DD, so will just get the pads at same time. Do you know if the pads come with the shims as i cant remember?
-
Also give DAVEMB2 a shout as he did a K26 swap on his D series MB2. Have a look in the project threads for "Trinity D"

Jesus mate! you'd be better off just getting the kit from Honda, might cost a little bit more but you know they will fit straight out of the box.
-
Sorry to hear about your grandad mate, never easy losing a loved one. I think the key was for programming spare keys. One thing I do know is never try and start the car with it as it can cause lots of damage apparently.

Nice job!

Im gonna get a full set of these for DD as her brakes are rattly and squeaky. I remember the last tim I replaced all these was on Ruby before heading down to Japfest the first time...brand new discs, pads, shims and retaining clips all from Honda. Everything fitted perfect and no noises so might need to go down same route with DD

Thank you mate, much appreciated

Actually, looking at it like that (only getting it 4cms higher) I think you're right! Think I'll go for the same layout as yours. That way can make the hole for the radio proper 2 din size as the screen I looked at was only 7 inch and 100cm high so not full double din.
-
Thanks mate! yeah, took a lot of effort with G3 paint cutting compound followed by G3 polish then autoglym extra gloss. should keep them nice for a while longer! Just noticed you can just see DD in the background of one of the pics parked next to "Effy", Gayles Nissan Juke

What a cracking project, and a lovely MB3 at the end of it. Loving the mods you've done mate, really brings the MB bang up to date and nicer to live with. I'm in the process of doing the double din conversion on my aerodeck. That head unit you've got is the same one I was looking at too! Love the fact it's nice and shallow so plenty room behind it. We really do struggle for room behind standard sized 1 din units in these civics, the dash space being really tight. So to fir a standard double din is tricky, so thats why I prefer the mechless (no cd player so smaller) units. How you finding that screen, reaction wise. Is it decent response times on it as it had mixed reviews? I'm still deciding whether I'm going for the same conversion as you, or going the otherway and moving the screen upwards, so doing away with the clock/hazard/heated rear screen switches. The switches will be moved to where the blanks are in next to AC button, and will rewire that style of switch to operate the hazard/heated screen. A lot more work moving it up, and it is really really tight for space but know it can be done. I want mine to sit further in than this though so will need to modify thing even more. Wanted it to be high so it's easier to see rear camera and navigation maps, feel that if its down where normal radio sits it might mean taking eyes of road for too long to see it?

Decided that after work today, seeing as it was a lovely sunny afternoon, I'd get Mindy out of the car port and out of her sleeping bag! Been meaning to give her wheels a good cut and polish as they'd become very crappy looking, with brake dust and yellowness. Forgot to get a before pic, but here are the results on the two driver side wheels. Oh, and Mindy couldn't wait to try her new garage even though it aint built yet!! But she thought she would try the base for her new crib! Shiney shiney wheels!! Looking forward to getting the garage built so I can get stuck into her and get her bodywork all done. Still needs a goos wash and clay/mop/polish after being in her sleeping bag but suppose she looks not too bad as is.

hmmm, if a lot of the pcb looks like that, I'd maybe look at getting a different ecu. if there's loads of dry/dodgy joints or it's been messed about with it'll give you no end of bother
-
yeah, deffo get it checked first mate. Might just be something simple, but could also be something that could potentionaly damage your engine

If it's a decent car valeter, they should have the paint thickness gadget that tells them the paint thickness/depth before they start. Know the lacquer and paint on these isn't really that thick to begin with from when they left the factory, so looking at her age/how many times she'll have been mopped over her life it might indeed be too thin. Hate 2k paint, absolutely sucks tbh! far too soft (so it chips easy) and not enough layers (so it chips easy!). Bring back celleuos paint! Bloody awesome stuff that!

Bit of a weird one mate! If something was actually failing/failed, you would think the eml would stay on even with the old ecu back in. Unless there's maybe a previous fault on stored on the P28? Might need reset/flashed?
-
Claying you would get away with mate as it removes mostly the dirt thats engrained into the paintwork, so takes off minimal lacquer. I'm peed off with DD's Bonnet and VTiS lip, both are stone chipped to hell (bumper is fine though as it was brand new from Honda). The bonnet looks awful close up as its litterally thousands of tiny wee white dots. Can't wait to get the garage built and kitted out. Think one of the first jobs will be respraying the bonnet and lip on DD! Rest of her paintwork is ok, comes up nice with a clay/polish/wax. I'd go for it mate, nothing nicer than super polished Pirates Black paint in the sun!!
