  1. I might have a nice double din dvd pioneer for sale if you're looking to upgrade mate? Was the one I had in the typeR, got the optional sat nav unit too. Still debating whether to do the double din conversion on DD so if I don't and you fancy it gimme a shout. Cracking sound from it and it's DAB/USB/MP3/Bluetooth etc.
  2. And its got the bodykit! Sweet!
  3. Wow! What an upgrade sir! Bet she shitfts!!

  5. I do remember a member had a scrap 2.2 that they wanted to fit to their mb but cant remember if they actually fitted it! Was many moons ago! Àswith most things, anything is possible if you have the funds/capability . We've had all sorts of conversions on here inc turbod d series, b20 and also a k26 conversion (see DAVEMB2 stunning conversion (trinity D)
  6. Oh, I've got a Haynes manual in the garage if you need any wiring diagrams
  7. Yeah, concentrate on the main fusebox in the bay first mate, then the one inside the car. There are relays on the interior fuse box too though can't remember off hand what they all are ( know one is for front fogs)
  8. Yo Dougie, good to see you back mate! This sounds like a tricky one. I gather the engines been out? If so, can only think that something somewhere in the bay isnt connected right. Could also be a relay/fuse has gone in the main fuse box in the engine bay? The ecu im not sure would have worked as i think the ecu has to match the immobiliser unit? Might be wrong on that one though. Have a look at the service manual (downloadable from here) and see what relays there are for the engine/fuel/management side of things. The fact the eml doesn't come on at all with ignition means something is deffo amiss. Can you list whats been done engine/wiring wise?

Lol deffo the right program Tom. Been speaking to guys at work about it too and they had similar thoughts on it. I reckon it's gonna be a massive fail!
  10. No eml light possibly rules out the ignitor then mate. Although it has been known to be faulty without throwing the eml on but very unlikely.
  11. Does the eml come on when it happens? Could be the ignitor in the dizzy is failing. Quite a common fault the last wee while. Could be the age/mileage the cars are at now.

Yeah, 3 old fogies from the late topgear. There just doesnt seem to be the dame chemistry between them. At a reputed 1 million quid an episode, it's quite disappointing tbh.

Just watched the first two episodes last night...........what a crock of crap! Studio/tent conversation is so autocue/scripted and the celebrity brain crash is so predictable. Hardly naff all about cars and found it really boring. Whats your views?
  14. Lol here's hoping you don't have to mate! If the only change has been spraying the ignition and it's been fine since, then looking likely it's the ignition that's at fault. Really strange fault mate, can't remember ever seeing this happen before.
  15. Sounds like it's either got a coolant leak or there is air in the coolant system. Know from experience these engine can be a bugger to bleed the coolant system after it's been drained or partially drained. Air locks are quite common. Are there any signs of coolant on the ground after the cars been parked up? Any signs of coolant in the engine bay? I'd wager that the coolant hasn't been topped u0p fu0lly, and once engines been run the coolant is spread around th0e engine meaning the resevoir is empty. Top it up again making sure there's the correct amou0nt of antifreeze in it as well. With the engine cold, take the radiator cap off and then grab the bottom hose and squeeze it. You should see the water level rise in the radiator neck. Do the same with the top hose. With the engine warmed up slightly, check both the top and bottom radiator hoses are warm/hot. With it having the water pump changed, it could be just an air lock. Was the water pump new or second hand? It could also be that the thermostat is faulty. These are cheap to buy and easy to fit, so cou0ld also be worth trying. Again, the only problem you may find is bleeding the coolant system after fitting a new thermostat.
  16. Also check the wires at the starter, make sure they are tight and have good corrosion free connections. Also, are there any signs of damp/wet carpets in the front? If water is getting in, it could be that it's maybe getting to some relays or even the ecu. Wet carpets could also indicate the heater matrix is leaking which again could be soaking some electrical components causing the fault.
  17. Yeah as said above mate you should deffo not be able to turn on anything with the ignition off (except headlights). It could very well be a problem with the ignition itself and I would say that's the most likely cause. I'd get the battery on charge mate and get it fully charged up. Make sure both the +itve and the -tive terminals are both tight. Any looseness in them will cause problems with charging and will also drain the battery. The fact you can turn on both the heater and those switches would point to the ignition or a wiring fault. Do you know if the heater controls or the switches have been removed at any point?
