Cack! There's always something comes up to get in the way... At least there's some new shiny bits waiting to go in Hilux's are class! Been thinking that one would be a mint camper conversion with basically a caravan on the back deck. Seem some crazy videos recently with Hilux's carrying insane weights on the back.

For bumpers, you're limited to either oem bumpers from M civics, or some slightly max power style after market ones, that are quite hard to find anyway... I'm not sure if I've ever seen any fitted on here? For the side skirts, apart from the VTIS, all M's have the same, but the MGZS skirts do fit and they have a different look. Again, there's some after market ones too. The front end of the MGZS is different (lights etc) so the bumper isn't a straight swap.

Since I'd got the car back, I'd been a bit worried about the engine as it seemed to have lost to end power - I was having to change gear about 1k to early as the power was dropping off. I've been needing to get my im ported to match the dc2 throttle body, as I'd noticed a bit of a drop off at high revs when I fitted it, but not as bad as recently. I noticed today though, that the intake to the air box wasn't where I'd fitted it - I had installed it so that the trumpet was in the void where the resonator used to be, but when it'd been reassembled, the trumpet was still in the engine bay, half pointing into that void, but also half covered up by the body. Adjusted that, and I now have high rev fun again... Phew. And here's a pic because purple. My camera doesn't show the purple flip very well though.

Think that I've got the solution. Chopped the bottom piece of a hard case for the tablet off, and have fixed that on the console / dash. The tablet sits on that and it holds it in place, with the magnets doing the rest of the job. Works a treat so far.

Went into the office today for the first time since last March, and in the way in, found myself in traffic next to a parked FK8, and it dawned on me that they're very similar size wise to a Civic M. Just been checking out of interest, and these are the dimensions for the wheel track and wheel base. FK8 : Front/rear track 1,600/1,593mm Wheelbase 2,700 mm Mc2: Front/rear track 1,465/1,470mm Wheelbase 2,620 mm Now that would be a cool (and expensive) swap...with some flared arches of course.

That's a shame about the wheels, but at least the seller is giving you a refund. The new ones look like they'll work well though.

Looks like a cozy garage.

Cheers. Think that with some more magnetic tape on the clips should make it stay, as well as making it sit more vertical as it's quite thick. Also, thinking of some kind of bead along the top line of the console to add the support that the blu tac is.

Sounds good with the engine work chief. That shift light fits in there spot on!

Hmm, having to come round to the realisation that Hondata seems to be the norm now. Cheers bud.

That's one of the things that made me as about not worrying about fitting it in, you can see the big screens on a few new cars sticking out when you go past, and they don't particularly look out of place. Means that I can easily take the tablet out when I'm not in the car as well so no one gets tempted to give me lightweight windows.

So after trying the little 7" tablet a few times now, it keeps crashing on android auto mode, but it's quite old and under powered. So I'm going to be trying a bigger and newer affair... Still old, but not as old as the other one. Decided to keep it simple instead of butchering the console - especially now I'm going for the 10 incher - would need a much bigger hole (stop giggling at the back). The blu tac is just while in trying it out. I've got two magnetic clip things, which worked great for the 7" one, but aren't quite up to it for this one. I've stuck some 3m magnetic tape on the back of the tablet, but needs a bit more help. And yes, my headunit isn't in properly, coz I still need to get in the back to do more wiring, and it's a pig to get back out once it's locked in.

Many weeks later..... So, as in the SOS post, those clips were also wrong. Turns out all of the parts manufacturers catalogues all refer to these clips (according to the guy at the motor factors), so I went to honda with a refund in my pocket, and you can only get the clips with a set of pads. Finally got them fitted yesterday (one of the easiest jobs I've ever done on the car where nothing went wrong...) and it's like a dream now.... No horribly rattle when driving along - now it sounds like I've had all the suspension and bushes done, instead of it sounding like it was about to fall apart. The hardest part about the whole thing was trying to find out what to torque the wheel nuts up to. I've always just nipped them up till they felt right, but seeing as I had the big torque wrench out, I thought I might as well do it properly. I thought that it would have been all over the Internet.... It wasn't. Found it on a post from here though by @philgor good old civic5

That sounds nice and fruity!

Think that he's showing how much space he has there to see if a spacer would be okay, but that it's rubbing on the inner side. Either way, looks tight there as well.

I would check again when you have the wheels turned so the way to the right - that's when mine catches the wing / arch liner.
-
Those wheels really suit the car

Cool. Rimmerbros is a better resource for parts than honda sometimes, but then sometimes you get caught out by something being different randomly. -

Also, in case there's something there that'll help, this is my project from the point of finding out how much of a bodge the first place did. -

Fair play mate. I did go down the route of trying to fix mine at first, but got badly let down by some dangerous repairs, and ended up going down the route I did. If it helps, I did manage to buy some new parts for mine - I got some new wings from honda, randomly via a website in Holland. https://www.akr-performance.com/ I also bought some of these panels for the repair - not sure if they're what you gave already. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CIVIC-1995-2001-MA-MB-4-5D-DOOR-REAR-WHEEL-ARCH-REPAIR-PANEL-WING-PAIR-/273823939449?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Good luck with it mate, and keep us up to date with the project -

It's hard, but that's what I've ended up doing with my aerodeck (reselling). My old one was worse than yours in most places, but better in others (not many mind). I was lucky enough to get a mint rolling shell that was the same spec and colour as mine, and have had my engine and gearbox swapped, as well as renewing a whole heap of parts. The main thing that I miss is the reg, as for me that was such a big part of the history of the car, but I was open and honest with DVLA about what I was doing, and wasn't able to transfer the reg across. At the end of the day it depends on how much time and money you're willing to spend on it, because it would take a lot of both.
