Many weeks later..... So, as in the SOS post, those clips were also wrong. Turns out all of the parts manufacturers catalogues all refer to these clips (according to the guy at the motor factors), so I went to honda with a refund in my pocket, and you can only get the clips with a set of pads. Finally got them fitted yesterday (one of the easiest jobs I've ever done on the car where nothing went wrong...) and it's like a dream now.... No horribly rattle when driving along - now it sounds like I've had all the suspension and bushes done, instead of it sounding like it was about to fall apart. The hardest part about the whole thing was trying to find out what to torque the wheel nuts up to. I've always just nipped them up till they felt right, but seeing as I had the big torque wrench out, I thought I might as well do it properly. I thought that it would have been all over the Internet.... It wasn't. Found it on a post from here though by @philgor good old civic5

That sounds nice and fruity!

Think that he's showing how much space he has there to see if a spacer would be okay, but that it's rubbing on the inner side. Either way, looks tight there as well.

I would check again when you have the wheels turned so the way to the right - that's when mine catches the wing / arch liner.

Those wheels really suit the car

Cool. Rimmerbros is a better resource for parts than honda sometimes, but then sometimes you get caught out by something being different randomly. -

Also, in case there's something there that'll help, this is my project from the point of finding out how much of a bodge the first place did. -

Fair play mate. I did go down the route of trying to fix mine at first, but got badly let down by some dangerous repairs, and ended up going down the route I did. If it helps, I did manage to buy some new parts for mine - I got some new wings from honda, randomly via a website in Holland. https://www.akr-performance.com/ I also bought some of these panels for the repair - not sure if they're what you gave already. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-CIVIC-1995-2001-MA-MB-4-5D-DOOR-REAR-WHEEL-ARCH-REPAIR-PANEL-WING-PAIR-/273823939449?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 Good luck with it mate, and keep us up to date with the project -

It's hard, but that's what I've ended up doing with my aerodeck (reselling). My old one was worse than yours in most places, but better in others (not many mind). I was lucky enough to get a mint rolling shell that was the same spec and colour as mine, and have had my engine and gearbox swapped, as well as renewing a whole heap of parts. The main thing that I miss is the reg, as for me that was such a big part of the history of the car, but I was open and honest with DVLA about what I was doing, and wasn't able to transfer the reg across. At the end of the day it depends on how much time and money you're willing to spend on it, because it would take a lot of both. -
If it's rubbing on the inner side, then have you got plenty of clearance to the outside in the wing? If so maybe some hub centric spacers would help to make the wheels sit more in the middle of the arch? Have you got any photos of how it sits?
-
Mint - nice one mate. Much better than swapping hub sizes etc.

I've got Eibach springs with 17" wheels, but currently with oem shocks... Used to have konis before they died. Mine rubs on the outer edge of the tyre though. The eibach springs just drop that little bit too much unfortunately. Can I ask where you got the konis from though.. I hunted high and low for some new ones.

Honda prices are fairly high now. I hadn't realised until going back into faceache recently
-
Looks nice buddy. The design brief of still looking modern x years in the future was met ey. Looks like a nice colour as well
-
Those wheels look decent will be good to see them when they're on.
-
It's turning into a right minefield getting parts now for some reason.
-
Just googled your part number, and this bearing says it's for mc2, but also that it's compatible with both the part number I found and the one you were given... Seems odd.

Just thought, that part number is for my reg... Would be worth double checking on lings parts to make sure that the part number never changed on a particular year.
-
In case it helps, this was the post on my thread at the time... (click the bit at the top with 25th February on)

About Feb last year. If I had to guess what brand it was I'd say blue print as that's what most of the stuff the mech I use gets from the local place. The oem part number is 42200-S30-C11 if that's of any use. There seems to be some confused info out there in parts catalogues when it comes to the vtis - I've just had shenanigans trying to get brake pad retaining clips. I kept getting given non vti ones.
-
Shims should come with the pads according to this... Just double checked and they're not in the box.
-
Looks nice mate - have you gone for it?
-
Not sure about the brake question mate, but I had an issue with rear bearings as well, but in mine the abs ring was the wrong size (though must admit that I don't think it ever got to the point of checking the stud pattern). I got them from a seller on ebay, but sent them back for a refund - ended up getting them from a local motor factors no problem.
