Can deffo state this is a question/plan we've nit come across before! lol I'll see if I can dig out the specs for you, got them somewhere. Compared to most estates of the era, the aerodeck is smaller as it was designed along the lines of the bmw 3 series tourer. More of a tourer than a full on estate. Camper wise, are you planning on extending the roof upwards? Be interested to see the plans!

sad times. What brought about the decission to break her mate? she's a stunning deck. -
It will be done. Need to find somewhere that can also drill out a snapped rocker cover bolt as it snapped when I fitted the new cover (bloody brand new bolts from honda they were too!). Oh so much to do! Lol

Indeed!

The speed in getting all the suspension parts all returned and refitted puts me to shame! I need to get bloody motivated! Top work mate as always!

late reply, but if you can get the steering rack out and find where the leak is coming from you might be able to fix it. It could be a leak from the pipes/hoses, or it could be that the seals in the rack have perished. Check online that both the seals and hoses are available to buy before removing it though. Or, if you can find decent second hand one, replace the entire rack. From what I've seen, it's a pretty hefty job to remove it.
-
The only problem you'll have is when you take the old badge off the grill, the grill has the shape of the old badge built into it. Not sure how it would look fitting the rear badge to it with that bit still in place. To remove it is a big job which involves cutting the old grill up (you'll need a spare grill so that you can cut and remove the slats to put in place of the bit you take out) and fitting slats to fill the section you cut out. It has been done on here before mate as a few members wanted the "Euro" grill look, and it does look smart. Do a wee search of the forum as I'm sure someone did a how to on this a while ago so will let you see whats involved. I tried it on the pre-facelift grill (different design) but gave up as it was really difficult. I think it's easier on the grill you have though.

so that'll come under the category "low and slow" lol

Yes mate, starting it for just 5 mins at a time will actually drain the battery rather than charge it. Starting a car up is the biggest strain a battery gets, and it takes on average 7 miles or more of driving to put back the charge that was lost during start up. Might be worth letting it run for say 15 - 20 mins after starting it, that way the charge is replaced and the engines been able to get up to normal running temp too so keeps thermostat working as well.
-
Yesssss! Now the fun begins! Looking forward to this one!

Looks mint mate! Deffo going to get stuck in and get started on DD this year after seeing this! Looks so good man!
-
Deffo change the tyres front to back mate. Does the noise seem to come from the front, and if so any particular side? There can be a few things cause this, such as a caliper binding. I have a noise front the drivers side front on the deck just now due to the caliper binding (quite badly in this case!) so get a droning noise from it. Are you seeing more brake dust on one wheel compared to the other?
-
No probs mate. A battery that's needing a good charge can also cause this.
-
Does it still do it after you reconnect the battery?

Nice find Simon. Have pur a post up in links section and in chassis section for members. Way cheaper than Honda!

Handy if you need to replace your abs sensors. Much much cheaper than Honda sell them for! Around £40 odd quid each. Thanks to Dr_Broon for this one! Mick's garage. https://www.micksgarage.com/d/abs-sensors/honda/honda-civic/civic-vi-estate-1998-to-2001/1-8-16v-mc2-169-1797/products

LOL you can't just leave it like that! Spill the beanz! Who's was it?

yeah, the gear ratios are a bit naff in the VTi mate! 1st gear is ok, but the fact 2 gear drops out of vtec when changing up from 1st is a reall pain. Honda should have really thought out the ratios a bit better. And like you say, 5th gear revs too high for motorway speeds. Simon (Dr Broon) had his rebuilt with different ratios etc, might be worth speaking to him to see whats involved. Have seen an lpg converted vti over here a few years back which was for sale. Not sure how it drove or how much the performance was affected, but with the kind of miles your doing does seem like a good idea. LPG didn't really take off in the uk which is a shame, not many garages sell it. Wonder if I could do a petrol/electric hybrid conversion on the deck!? lol

Yeah, could be just the covers missing. I agree mate, until they are a lot older both the civic M's and the ek's are deffo not worth the money some are asking for them. Think the ceiling price for both with low mileage and history should be at most 3 grand at the moment. Even then, I doubt many will pay that for them so the ones that are there for sale at the momnet for 3 grand upwards will remain unsold.Know the VTIS mb6 thats up for over 3 grand has been on autotrader for months now, as has the green ek4 and the 4 door vti. The Jordan civics are commanding big money, but as they were a very limited edition and most died of rust (rear arches on eks are shocking!) can understand that.
-
Hi mate. If you have a healthy budget, suspension wise I'd go for the MeisterR's coilovers. I've had them on my vti MB6, and also bought them for my Aerodeck. I did have it set low to begin with, but due to speed bumps etc (I hate to hear a car scraping and the damage that entails!) I've raised them up a fair bit. It's lower then standard, but not too low now. Good balance of comfort/handling with them as they are fully adjustable. For info on what fits, have a look at the following link:
