There's a method to check the lsd in the service manual - something like jack the front of the car up, and with the engine off and the car in gear (first?) rotate one wheel by hand, and the other should turn the opposite way. Be worth double checking that I've got that all right, but from memory it's something along those lines.

I can say that it's not long enough for a door (for the house). If it wasn't so icy outside I'd go out and measure it.

One of the best things I did was get rid of the tow bar mine had when I got it. Was so heavy and hanging out over the back of the rear axle did nowt for handling

So, today I installed a remapped ecu, courtesy of littlebo and ukcl9 off type accord. Have to say that it was worth every penny, as it's totally transformed the car. Red line used to be just over 7k, with vtec only kicking in at 6k... Pretty pointless really. Also, it had terrible throttle lag because of the drive by wire system thinking it knew better than your right foot. Now vtec comes in nice and smooth from 4.5k, red lines a bit higher, 1:1 ratio on the throttle, and more usable power (and k24 torque) throughout the revs. Really pleased that I've went for it, and Mrs B loves it too... She's buzzing off blowing away a boy racer today without dropping down to 2nd out of a roundabout. Nearly as fast as the deck

Check that the pressures are both okay... I've had this before and thought that there was something wrong but was just pressures. Seems to affect some tyres more than others... My winter tyres don't do it and their pressures can be all over the place sometimes due to being in my old standard rims.

Should do the trick then There's a noticeable bigger gap between 4th and 5th than other gears, but not so much as it causes a problem - at least with the 4.7fd.

I got the LS 5th gear set installed at the same time as getting the final drive from an itr. 5th is still a bit longer than it was in the standard box, so swapping it in with the rest of the standard s9b ratios would make a big difference.

Wonder what impact it'll have on the vag's that had the defeat device if the owner hasn't had the update done...

Remember it will take your MOT tester time to get up to speed with these too!So...Advisories are being replaced with minor fails. These are all pre written & approved by DVSA. You will still get a pass but they will be noted on your test certificate. Manual advisories are still being worked out but may disappear completely.Those of you who have changed your standard headlight bulbs for HID's will now get a major fail even if the aim is correct. It has always been an offence to fit HID bulbs to halogen headlamps so the MOT is now in line with that.Reverse lights are now part of the MOT for any car registered from 1st September 2009 (59 plate onwards). Daytime running lamps (DRL's) & front fog lamps must work on vehicles registered from March 2018 (18 plate onwards).Engine Management Light is now a major fail. It must come on with the ignition and then turn off when the engine is started.Brake pad warning lights are a major failHandbrake with excessive travel is now a major fail. Before it would only a fail if there was no reserve travel.Contaminated (dirty) brake fluid is a major fail. Not sure how that will work as the MOT tester isn't allowed to remove the fluid cap.Oil leaks (engine, gearbox etc.) can be a major failure if they are deemed large enough.It seems they have removed the failure for tyres not being fitted according to sidewall instructions. Inner/outer or rotation incorrect.Any modifications/removal to emissions related devices, this includes DPF'S and EGR's is now a major fail.Where a DPF canister has clearly been cut open and re-welded, it will now fail.A vehicle fitted with a DPF that emits any kind of visible smoke during the metered test will now failEmissions limits for diesels registered on or after 1st of January 2014 have been reduced. All diesels will now need to pass the limit that was set by the manufacturer when the car was new. This can be found on the VIN plate. For example the current limit for your diesel car may be 1.50. That could change to as low as 0.30 with the new rules. These are just some of the bigger changes to the MOT test the average motorist is likely to be affected by. There are dozens, perhaps even over 100 changes to the actual MOT test and to the way testers record tests on the MOT computer.
