  1. So has anybody ever fitted DRL's to a Civic M? I know they're not the most stylish or needed thing but I think on one hand it would modernise the car a bit and saves your sidelights come winter. Some basic ones seem easy to fit as well. Only questionable thing for me would be where to fit them? I've seen people put ring ones around the fog lights, seen people mount the cheap & common LED strip ones on the front lower bumper grille, but there isn't a lot of space for them really. Would be great to hear if anybody has installed them or your opinions on them!
  2. Hi guys!!! My name is Oscar, I'm from Madrid (Spain) and I'm 33 years old. I'm a recently owner of an MB4 Honda Civic 1.6 ES Vtec. I have that machine since one week ago and I love it! Here I leave some pics of the car and it's future wheels
  3. Hi guys im looking to swap out the slow and sluggish d14 thats in my civic atm and go with the not so commonly used b20. Couple of questions are whats everything i need to do the swap? how easy is it to do the swap? could you do it in a weekend? and lastly what are you lots opinions on this swap? Thanks
  4. Our cars are getitng older now. In fact, although they should be supporting them until 25yrs of age, even Honda seem to be running out of basic parts even. As an example, front brake components. Calipers, carriers etc. My front brakes have had some TLC over the past few years to keep them legal for MOT, but every time i dismantle them, i realise what an awful state they're in, with all the rust etc. I have taken a very relaxed look around on the net from time to time to try and see if I could source new ones (carriers especially) and it shocks me to find that this is impossible it seems. REALLY!!!??? Is this REALLY the case!?
  5. as the aerodeck started having alot off problems in one go i went and got a hatch. it has just under 69k miles on it. white wheels when it turned up and the black and red ones are as it being built .
  6. Hello folks. I'm having a bit of trouble trying to fit my oil cooler. I have the cooler mounted and everything I need to do the job and also plumb in all my gauges aswell. I'm using a thermostatic mocal sandwich plate to feed the cooler but there doesn't seem to be any room to mount it. Iv seen plenty of install guides and videos of doing it and no one seem to have trouble fitting the plat. But on the b18c4 there just seems to be no room around it. You can get the plate on but there is no room for fittings and the hoses to go. There seem to be more hoses and random lines on the back of a b18c4 block than any other engine from pics iv seen. Has anyone else managed to fit one and how did they do it? Thanks
  7. Hi guys, thought I may as well make a thread for my little MB2 seeing as I'm here! Backstory - The car has been in the family from new. It belonged to my Great-Grandad to start with who then gave it to his son in law (my Grandad) who passed the car on to me in 2016 shortly before he passed away. I've only had my test passed for the last 14 months and so this is my first car! Therefore I'm trying to look after it the best I can and because there's so much that can be done modding wise, especially with it being the base model, it gives a lot of options. The car really hasn't done much mileage at all. I got the car on 80,000 and only sitting at just under 84,000 now. It's pretty standard, still on original steel wheels & ride height, got its fair share of scratches and slight dents but it shines up pretty well. The car has been reliable as hell for as long as I remember, so I'm going to just keep it going for as long as possible. I've really fallen in love with these MB Civic's and always had an admiration for Honda/older Civic's before this. In my ownership it has had the following repairs/slight mods with a lot more planned! - New standard exhaust back box because it completely blew through a couple months into driving it. - Full service in January this year, coolant etc last replaced in 2015 but low miles like I said - New Pioneer radio/CD player (went for CD not Bluetooth.. Yes I'm old fashioned!) - New wipers all round - New number plates - Original floor mats - VTI front lip (first thing I've ever sprayed up myself) - De-Chromed front grille (Vinyl wrapped) - Colour matched wing mirrors & door handles (One electric mirror wasn't working so took the chance to get rid of the black plastic all round) - VTI Carbon dash trim & gear stick surround - VTI Gear knob - VTI door tweeters (not wired in yet, got replacement door looms but can't unplug main connection so will have to cut into wires) - Wind deflectors - OEM mud guards/flaps fitted In the coming weeks/months things I should have done include front fog lights and something I've only seen one or two guys do, a Rover 45/MGZS boot lip spoiler. I'm just going to 3M tape this on once painted silver, because I also have a spoiler from a 1.4 sport that I need to finish painting and eventually get on. And I'm not really sure about having 2 spoilers haha! Also after a set of alloys, even the original 4x100 MB ones will do. Wouldn't mind getting a rear ARB on too eventually but need to mod/change lower control arms for that so it's a bigger job for down the line. Going to scrub away some rust and stone chip or underseal underneath & wheel arches in time for winter too. Seen some de-chromed headlights again recently and very tempted to buy some and do this myself! Thoughts and suggestions are very welcome & I'm glad to be on here! First couple pics are standard, last pic is how it looks now and one to show the test fit of the boot lip.
  8. hi guys time for a new chapter. I'll start of by saying that my old ma8 will be going to scrappers soon found some rather nasty rust and dew to rather annoying unforseen circumstances happing with my other non honda project. I dont have the time or space to work on it so i will build another in a year or so time. Now for the good news as i was gettng rid of my ma i wanted another civic as a daily as my origanl car that was going to use went up in a cloud of gear box oil and rust so i now have a mb as a daily Im going to be doing some things to her like coilovers wheels etc. Its rather clean to as it has next to no rust and has the nicer black interior. The only issues are the drivers side window doesnt work (mechanism come apart), boot doesnt shut or lock properly (previous ownwer had a fight wth something lol) can pull the latch back into place. Heres a pic of her for you guys will upload more tomorrow
  9. Hi new to the forum, picked up this mb6 totally standard apart from coilover a month ago and since then I've added an omp wheel and quick release, new carpets, added an aem induction kit, aluminium rad and red coolant hoses, decat, custom spark plug cover, bonnet raisers and few wee tidy up bits, I've owned a few hondas before this, had am ej6 civic coupe with a b18c4 conversion and also owned an accord type r, but its quite a clean mb6 so don't want to do to much to it or anything done it can be put back, but interested in probably one of the most asked questions of making the custom projector headlights? And looking a nice set of alloys, recommendations? Thanks
  10. There is an interesting thread about what qualifies semi modern cars as classics over on our sister Site : https://www.futureclassiccars.uk/index.php?/forums/topic/43-what-do-you-think-makes-a-car-a-modern-classic/ I'm a bit staid in my ways so I'd love to hear opinions from younger enthusiasts.
  11. My mb4 is in storage a long way from home but before i start buying mg180 rear arb anf mb6 front arb does the car actually have provision for them is its hasnt got arb as standard? Cheers
  12. Does anyone have supersprint (923125) silencer in their MB6? what is the diameter? 2.25? 2.5? I have 2.5 piping at the moment. Muffler/silencer should ideally be 2.5 too. Supersprint seem pricey but i suppose it's a quality product? Sounds are usually fine too but what about on MB6? Anyone here had one? Too loud? Booming noice? "Ricey"? I don't want too loud but some sound would be nice. Current one is too booming under hard gas or high way speeds in general. Any suggestions? Some magnaflow oval? What are the specs for original exhaust system with MB6? Pipe diameter? Never had original in mine when i got so it would be interesting to know.
  13. I have a 1998 MB4 and in my garage some old lowered springs and shocks from a EF civic. Before I dig them out, does anyone know if they work on the MB? Cheers, Stu

    MB4 to B16 swap

Its been a while since I've been in the greasy bits of a honda. I've lost my company car so have taken over the wife's mint MB4 1.6SE. She gets the new family car. As its a single cam vtec am I correct in thinking a B16 swap would be able to run on the existing loom with the vtec signal being the same? Engine mounts and driveshafts? Although reco-prop are down the road from me, i'd be looking at at weekend swap. Cheers Stu
  15. Hi I'm just wondering if anybody here has experience with fitting the OEM/standard Mb's spoiler onto one that originally didn't have one? Mb2/4 etc Got a spoiler with brake light wiring all complete etc and I'm wondering how to go about it or to bother at all. - Any tips for drilling screw holes in the boot lid for the spoiler? This is what's making me not want to do it to be honest. Scared I'll mess it up. Need the bolts too. - Is there anywhere for the brake light wiring to plug into on the MB2's? I've taken the boot interior out and looked and can't see where it would go to. Any tips/pictures etc would help too. Thanks!
  16. @MarkHuntsman is this enough to get your attention? Come on then folks.....
  17. Hi all, My name is Twan, 26 years old. I'm an automotive student. I've bought this Aerodeck a month ago and i'm having fun working on it. Wondering if this forum is still active and if there are perhaps other Dutch members. Glad I found the forum though, it has already proved helpful in a few research occasions. When I started studying I sold my car (used to own a BMW 3-series) because I was sure I wouldn't be able to afford that car anymore. Soon enough though my hands were itching and I wanted a car that was easy to work on and parts should be inexpensive and readily available. Hello Honda! As a tall person I wasn't digging the EK's but the 5 door hatchbacks seemed more my thing. My aim is to learn about the car and to have a more practical approach to some of the classes I study at school. I like the engineering part but I also love getting my hands dirty. I bought myself an Aerodeck with around 220.000 km on the D15Z8. It had a little work to be done and I've made pretty good progress in the past month. First thing was thorough inspection and treatment of rust. The car has little to no rust in the rear, just some surface spots up front. The underside had a couple small holes in it which I cut out and welded some new material in place. Upon removing left front panel there was a tonne of dirt coming out which made me wonder if the previous owner was into offroading. The wiring harness from car to door was also unfortunately cut by one of the previous owners. After the rust was taken care of I gave the car a brakes refresh front and back. Last but not least all fluids and filters were refreshed. I looked into the engine through the spark plug holes with an endoscope and the cylinder and walls looked pretty good. I've also managed to rearrange some of the wiring in my door to get the speaker to work again, the central locking mechanism for the drivers side seems stuck so I'll have to fix that. Only other thing to find out is a humming/droning noise i hear when driving 70-120 km/h so I suspect a wheel bearing might be going out. Today I found some OEM rear roof speakers for the car and installed those and I've replaced the door moldings which should keep as much water as possible out of my doors. If the car proves to be trustworthy I'm going to save up for some coilovers, rims and alignment. In the meantime there is enough crap the previous owners messed up that I'm planning to fix and clean the inside of the car thoroughly.
  18. Hey Is available an universal fog lights i can buy for my car?

  20. So here's my little new MB3 on its summer wheels that normally were on my ED9. Need to lower it though, 215/40 R16 are looking very tiny. Bought it for 500€ last June with 192.000km and a nearly broken transmission. Luckily a used but functional one and 8 wheels (OEM alloys and some steels) were in the back so i just had to replace the gearbox and also put a brand new clutch in it for 450€ total in a honda workshop. It's now at 206.000km and it's still going without any problems. Looks like i made a good deal for under 1000€. Also it's in lovely Pirates Black and has this nice little wing, gorgeous!
  21. Hello to anyone reading Meet Gladys, a lovely 1999 Civic with only 87k on the clock Looking for nice easy modifications to help get some of the power back that would have been lost over the years? After having 2 owners from new it's safe to say she has never seen a modification and it's always been a thing of mine and having a Civic. Will be posting new things that are done if anyone would be interested in seeing its progression as it goes from ultra standard to hopefully a head turner for the right reasons, also she will have neons. If you're not a fan then here is the pre-warning on that. Car never came with a luxurious interior, well cream WAS a thing in the 90's. Not so much now :/ Happy for any advice to be given as long as it's not a hater type of opinion. Stay open minded Hoping to meet you guys in the near future! Thanks
  22. As above, anybody doing anything exciting this year? Now the year long January is out of the way, how do you think 2018 is stacking up so far and what have you all got planned for the months ahead? I've just booked myself a track day at Spa in October, I'll do a few shows and hopefully treat the cars to some parts too! My plan is to be broke....a lot
