  1. Mine needed a bit of bending to get it lined up, but no big drama.
  2. The brace is looking good - I like a nice brace
  3. Which of the many types of gunk is it mate? https://www.google.com/search?safe=strict&client=ms-android-hmd-rev2&ei=9WZEYNefIYzzgQbSwZ2ABw&q=gunk+engine+degreaser&oq=gunk+engine&gs_lcp=ChNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwEAEYADIFCAAQkQIyBQgAEJECMgIIADICCAAyAggAMgIIADICCAAyAggAOgQIABBHOgcIABCxAxBDOgQIABBDUNAnWJo4YIVOaABwAXgAgAF6iAHdAZIBAzEuMZgBAKABAcgBCMABAQ&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp#scso=_AWdEYKq0A4yUgAbg2Z7YDw10:737.7142944335938
  4. It sounds like you need to get a project thread started
  5. Think I'll try some of your gunk Dave The engine bay is the one bit of the new one that needs some smartening up.
  6. I guess that the emissions is the potential tricky part of the failures, but I suppose it depends on how far out they are. Otherwise, brakes and tyres should be fairly straightforward. Viewing and getting it with no MOT and lockdown is going to also be tricky.
  7. Likely to be Waxoil (or similar)
  8. Glad that you got to the bottom of it mate.. Nice puzzle that one
  9. Yeah, tubs had definitely gone there and I thought that's where the leak was coming from at one point. I'd pointed it out to the garage and asked them to make sure that the hinges were sealed on properly because they did look like they were starting to go. One thing for sure, I'm going to be all over any sign of water inside.
  10. It certainly would have been gutting! Can't wait to go on a nice long run in it!
  11. Hope you feel better soon mate. I wonder if your immune system has kicked in more with you having it before? Hopefully the next one is milder.
  12. So that's where the siren is on my mc2. Mine is an optional extra cat1 system made by Hamilton and palmer, but it looks quite different to that. I've also got a metal box fixed to the floor under the drivers seat (might be worth checking yours). I can't remember how I found out they made it because it's not printed anywhere, but when I had my siren problem I sent them a photo of the siren and they identified the system from there. They've always been really helpful. This is their website https://www.hamilton-palmer.co.uk/
  13. Yeah, it is... although I'm in bed with some bug (not covid) at the minute, so a few more days is okay.
  14. I've not seen it with my own eyes to see what it looks like, but it sounds like something to keep an eye on.
  15. I was wondering if the MA had the same as the others, coz the immobiliser chip is hidden under the rubber bit, so not sure where it could be on that key.
  16. That's an odd problem - especially the bit where the key in the lock was disarming the system but not anymore. Have you been able to have a look at the siren under the bonnet? That might give you an idea of who made it (but if the alarm is going off you might want to disconnect the battery to save your ears ) @Dave had an MA so might recognise the key fob.
  17. Some more info here https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-diy-repair-maintenance/4090-tailgate-rubber-seal.html
  18. So, as I've just posted in my thread, it seems that a good place to start in trying to track down a boot leak is the same as a known defect on the Jazz. It's described pretty well in the thread on this forum post below, but I'll copy it in case it ever disappears. From reading the Jazz forums, folk are saying that it's happened to eg civics the same way. Fingers crossed this has fixed it - I'll keep an eye on it that's for sure. https://clubjazz.org/forum/index.php?topic=9460.0 #1 Unclip gutter trim on drivers side (UK) by pushing back at end while trying to lift about 6" further back.#2 Peel back and unclip at other end.#3 Remove slime and debris from gutter. Find tiny crack and test it with a paint brush bristle.#4 Wonder how on earth so much water can get through such a tiny crack.#5 Scrape out old filler from panel join in last inch of gutter.#6 Wonder why they built it with a gap at the end.#7 Mask area with tape.#8 Fill with polyurethane sealant like this: https://www.toolstation.com/shop/p67949 (NOT silicone!)#9 Smooth over with plastic offcut then cover with touch up paint when set.#10 Marvel at dry boot, think about replacing rusty jack.
  19. So, everything was all lined up for picking my car up from the restoration place on Saturday lunchtime, and I got a call in the morning to say that they were doing the valeting, and found that the spare wheel well was full of water exactly the same as what happened to tubs. He asked if I wanted to sort it myself, or for them to look into it, but seeing as I'd never managed to track the leak down in tubs, I asked them to do it (also, after all the time it's been away I wanted it back sorted). So they set away checking with a hose and found a clip where water was getting in when it was sprayed in a certain way, but in the mean time I'd called my usual mechanic who was going to be sorting the abs and mot to let him know that it was going to be late. He said that when he worked at honda, they had loads of jazz come back with this problem to the extent that honda had to extend the warranty. The problem was the seam seal on the roof starts to fail, and small cracks appear which lets a surprising amount of water in. Honda used to have to strip the old seal out back to a certain amount, and redo it. I got back to the garage and told them about it, and asked them to check in the channel under the roof rails. They had already sealed up any suspicious grommets etc, but they looked into the seal. Turns out that there was a few little sections where it had cracked and small amounts of rust staring. The resealed the whole length just to be certain. I'll put this as a sticky topic coz it seems to be a common problem starting.
  20. Cool. I've got the skunk LCAs as well, so that's groovy
  21. Yeah, the garage sent it to a local engineering firm to get it done - I'm not sure about the dimensions, but if it's 40mm that's needed that must be it.
  22. Found the thread I was thinking about... After 17 pages in the suspension forum
