@AJCivic , fingers crossed your corrosion will soon be a thing of the past, it's a dirty job but it'll prolong the life of your trusty car. Yes, it's been a very trusty car @KiNK43 and has never let me down over 4 yrs trundling round London. I was very impressed how rust free your car was when you removed the sill mouldings........"tis a consummation Devoutly to be wished" Question : have any of you been declined insurance when your car reached 20 years old ?

I had the underside of my car cleaned and under-sealed after my last MOT advised there was slight corrosion underneath. It's a brilliant A to B car but it recently started running slightly hot in heavy traffic.......I simply replaced the engine radiator fan switch....and hey presto my car is back to behaving properly. MOT is due in a couple of Months......I'm detecting slight movement in my front nearside wheel so I expect the MOT will flag up the problem, other than that my car has a good chance of passing IMO......I'll see what the MOT tester has to say ...lol I can only liken the Honda Civic to a Massey Ferguson tractor...in that.....it just won't die

A dual core radiator sounds the business to me, should be more than man enough for the job. You must be both excited and nervous after building your first full engine ever. You're educating me as you go ..... who said "you can't teach an old dog new tricks"

A spray gun finish is always best Jake I think it's very wise of you to run in the engine before whacking on the turbo. Do you intend uprating the cooling system ? Keep up the good work.

I like the whirring sound they make.

Gel replied to Dave's topic in Chat Lounge
We're prevented from checking out it's MOT history so I wouldn't even consider the car @ £3,500......tis a beauty though.- 8 replies

Intermittent Spluttering / loss of power MC2 Aerodeck
Gel replied to frunkster's topic in Engine & Chassis
Good to hear your health has improved Frunkster ......once you fit the new sensor your car should be back to full health. (I too had similar symptoms until I replaced the o2 sensor). I used the Motability scheme for 21 years but decided against new cars seeing as I only clock up 20/30 miles p.w. I replaced a beautiful new car for what can only be described as a bullet proof car (X reg Civic).....it has never let me down over 4 years. Good luck with your health and car. -
Wow! what a transformation......tis a beauty you can be proud of

I expect you were heart broken waving goodbye to your boosted Civic You're definitely onto a winner with a Mk1 Golf Gti because the only way the price will go is up. Would be great to see your build thread over on our sister Site : https://www.futureclassiccars.uk/index.php?/forums/

Happy belated Xmas wishes all.....we have more visitors today.....so the party still goes on. Santa brought me a new Sat-Nav....haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Fitting new bits and bobs to Mindy sounds like a mighty Christmas to me

" Would you say an MB6 ARB is a decent upgrade or go all the way and get a ZS one? " I honestly don't know .....hopefully others in the know will comment anon.
-
Hi Jamie, I've been following the improvements to your car with interest....mainly because I too have an MB2. Have you fitted an ARB yet ?.....IMO it's a mod that'll transform the driving experience and handling. Bless your work mate
-
Don't ya just love the feeling a sporty steering offers ......IMO they change the driving experience completely.

Sad to hear you and your beloved Civic may be parting company anon Stephen ): If your replacement car is half as good you'll be doing well.
-
Great find mate.....good luck with the subtle mods.

Welcome aboard Oscar your straight MB is worth a bit of pandering.....enjoy your upgrading. You sure about fitting leather seats considering your hot climate ?
-
Hi and welcome Rissy, might be wise to have a good inspection of the underside of your car......rust or a fracture could give similar symptoms. Good luck with finding the irritating noise

Good old DD comes to the rescue ........pity the bolt snapped but such is the way with all things mechanical. A quick round of golf with the Bank Manager should see you right.
