  1. Quite happy that I managed to get a hold of an unused replacement gear knob: I really liked the one I had in tubs, but the leather was goosed. Found this one the same on ebay still in its box (been in there a while by the look of it)
  2. Nice to see you back in a Civic mate.. The deck's looking nice - sits well on those wheels.
  3. I've seen some replacement stickers (for a Ford) on ebay, which should work with a bit of butchering. Would be nice to stick with honda style though. Can't beat a bit of tinkering on a Sunday though ey?
  4. I've got one, and lots of other members have had them over the years. It's supposed to be one of the only options for b series that doesn't result in losing power, and is an improvement over the standard vti one which is the same for all models of m civics (at least the petrol ones).
  5. Cheers @Dave - that's a shame, but not a surprise I suppose! The back up plan was to try swapping the wiring like you say, but it just depends on whether the circuit boards are different (probably are). Just spending time thinking about what I can do when I get the car back
  6. Nice and clean under them skirts! Very that was a relief. What skirts are they mate?
  7. Yeah, I was looking at pictures of the heated seat switches on ebay and thought that the body of the switch looked very similar in size, and then noticed that it looked like the front might come off. Even better that the whole thing comes to bits. Need to double check against the actual rear screen and hazard switch though. I'm planning on making a mini binnacle type thing to sit below the vents, so that should help with the heat.. Not that my heaters get that hot anyway
  8. Aye, it looks like you've got that wrapping down sorted now. Good work!
  9. Sounds good Dave. If I fail to get something sorted for my tablet install, I'll be interested in a double din.
  10. I had a good look around coz I'm sure that I've got a spare hazard switch somewhere, but only found an ac one in the shed and a dash dimmer in the garage... Must be in a box in the loft. The AC one has come to bits quite nicely, so I'm hoping that I can swap the gubbins around.
  11. I'm going to be doing a tablet install to run android auto connected to my phone. I used to have a phone holder where the clock was, but it always bugged me a bit that it got in the way of the buttons, and as my phone got bigger and bigger, it got worse. It's an old 7" tablet, and it's more phone shaped than Ipad shaped (longer instead of squarer), so I'm thinking of shifting the buttons down, and making a bit of a cowl to go over it to avoid glare. It's a good spot for using the satnav at a glance.
  12. I've not had a screw on my rotor arm for years. When I got the reconditioned dizzy, it didn't have one - the arm was kind of bonded on... I even had to get in touch with their tech support to double check. They said it should just pop off... But ended up having to destroy it to get it off. Every new arm I've had since has had the hole for the screw but no screw. Always been fine though (touch wood). That kit looks pretty good - will be interesting to see how it turns out.
  13. Roger that. I'm planning on moving the rear screen button and maybe the hazard switch down there. Might try butchering the old switches (I'm sure I've got some spare spares somewhere).
  14. Cheers Dave.. Thought that they were. Out of interest, is there wiring / connectors there? Not planning on heated seats, just toying with re - jigging the dash a bit.
  15. Are they for heated seats? I can't remember...
  16. So just spent the best part of today uploading all of the photos in my project thread, having paid photobucket for premium (or whatever they call it) so that I could bloody download my own photos. To be fair, I did download them a fair few months ago, but I've never got around to doing this yet as it's been such a big job. I can now cancel that subscription!
  17. I'm properly getting excited about it now... Just wish I'd been able to get it back before Christmas so I could have got stuck into it while I've been off. Getting itchy fingers Spent about an hour rubbing leather conditioner into the momo steering wheel today. Seems like nice stuff - auto finesse.

    Mb6 Not starting

Glad that it sounds like you're nearly there with it. That happened when my distributer died - it was turning over, but really fast and as you say sounded odd. Interesting to hear the reason. Would be good to see your mb6 bud - why not join up and start a project thread? We love a picture round these parts
  19. Didn't know that - is that the same for any k series box?
  20. Popped down to the garage to see the car today. Went to swap the clocks, as I had swapped the ones from tubs when I thought I could swap the reg across. Swapped all the red bulbs from the clocks while I was on. Tried to test them before everything was back in place, but they weren't working for some reason... Spent ages checking connections, then gave up and put everything back... Was only when I came to put the switches back and reconnected the dash dimmer switch that I remembered that they don't work when that switch isn't in. I'm sure that I had the same problem all those years ago when I first put the red bulbs in. Felt good sitting there with the engine running After New year, it'll be skirts on (they're looking good all painted up now), mot, then back to me
  21. Just re-read my post - I meant I need female sockets.. They're little male heads. Ordered some sockets today, so hopefully they'll be kind (with a liberal spray of plusgas to help). I need to get in touch with Hamilton and palmer before I disconnect anything though... Seems like it could be a right minefield.
  22. Spent a few hours in tubs yesterday - took the momo steering wheel out and swapped in the old spare one without an airbag, so that can live in the old girl in case she needs moving any time in the future. Took the seats out as well to have a proper looksie - they'll need a good old clean before they go into the new girl. Nearly everything's got a fine layer of mould on from being damp for so long. Going to give it a bit of a clean up on the inside when it's all cleared out - it's got various used and unused parts in at the moment, and didn't get to sorting them out. Started sorting through the glove box and stuff, seeing what bits I need to keep and reuse, disconnecting the hands free kit etc, and tracing the wiring for the optional extra cat1 alarm as I want to keep that if I can. Think that the hardest part is going to be in unbolting the control box from the chassis. It's screwed to the floor with some security bolts, which look like female star fittings, but they're really small... Like a few mm. If they're seized in I don't know how easy they'll come out. Had a right chew on trying to undo the bottom bolt for the seat belt to get the carpet up to investigate - ended up with a spanner on it and most of my weight... Luckily managed to free it by tightening it a smidge first.
  23. Nearly done... Just getting the old one back so that I can swap interior bits over when the new one is done. After that I'll be keeping tubs at a friend's place to use for parts if needed. It's nice to see an aerodeck roof out of the window again... Even if it is just a shell. It's been about 16 months since it first got dragged off to get the fuel leak fixed Nearly there now though.
  24. Nice one. I'll have a spy at those bad boys. The old (old) girl came home today to get read for having stuff removed.
